Residence Requirement

A Residence Requirement attached to a Youth Rehabilitation Order (YRO) requires the young person to reside with a specified person e.g. a grandparent (that person's consent must be obtained) or at a specified place (known as a 'place of Residence Requirement') for the specified period. A place of residence requirement may only be included in a YRO if the young person is 16 or over at the time of conviction. The legal parental responsibility for that young person would not change.
